NEET Eligibility for Foreign Candidates

NEET 2018 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a common entrance exam for candidates aspiring to pursue medical education. It is a national-level entrance test which is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS courses conducted across various government and private medical colleges in the country.

NEET Eligibility is decided by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). All Indian and Foreign National candidates are eligible to apply for the exam. However, the conditions vary in both the cases. Read below to know more.

Various Categories Eligible for NEET

Candidates belonging to the below mentioned categories are eligible to apply for NEET exam.

  • Non-Resident Indian (NRI) – An Indian Citizen living outside of India

  • Foreign Nationals
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) – These are individuals who own dual citizenship as permitted by certain companies
  • Person of Indian Origin – This is issued to a person of Indian Origin expect people belonging to countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

NEET Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Applicants

NEET Eligibility requires the candidates to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Candidates should be a minimum of 17 years of age and there is no maximum age prescribed by the university.
  • Candidates should secure a minimum of 50 percentile for qualification to open quota
  • 40 percentile is required for qualification to reserved quota.
  • Candidates are eligible to participate in All India Quota
  • Candidates can apply through the online mode for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Foreign Nationals will have to provide valid documents and authorised embassy approvals.

How to apply for NEET?

NEET undergraduate applications are done through the online mode. The procedure for Foreign Nationals is quite similar to the Indian Nationals. However, it requires a few mandatory documents to be given at the time of application form submission.

To apply, candidates should visit the official website of CBSE for submission of application form. They will have to click their preferred specialization. Course details and other related details will be available in the information brochure

  • Candidates will have to enter their Name and contact details

  • They will have to declare their nationality and category (if any)
  • They will be asked to fill in their Passport Number. Indian Nationals will fill in their Aadhar Number
  • Personal information like Father’s Name, Mother’s Name and their occupation should be filled. They will also be asked to declare their annual income
  • Question paper Language of the students’ choice must be selected. You can select English if your native language is not available
  • Fill in academic qualifications like percentage of marks secured, Type of Institution. Board, etc. along with qualifying exam code.
  • Candidates will have to enter their choice of exam center.
  • They are also required to upload their photograph and signature in the given specifications
    1. The photograph should be taken in a white background and should carry the date in which it was taken
    2. Goggles and caps are not permitted
    3. Candidates should carry a post card size( 4” x 6”) photo at the time of the examinations
  • Candidates need to pay the application fee of INR 1400 and it can be paid through the following means:
    1. Debit Card
    2. Credit Card
    3. Net Banking
    4. UPI
    5. E-Wallet

They will have to make a note of the registration number and save a copy of the payment challan.
