What to Do?
What to Do?

Before the Interview

An interview is a presentation of your skills and accomplishments. So like any other presentation an interview requires preliminary preparation. Do the research concerning a prospective employer. With the knowledge about job requirements, company history, and industry you can go to the interview easily. If you find out a little more about the person conducting the interview you'll make a much better impression.

Make clear your objectives. Before applying for any position, clear cut your own interests and career goals. An interviewer may ask you to explain why you want the job and why you think you would be a good fit, so be ready to answer. Direct your efforts to convince the interviewer you have what it takes to do the job, and your goal should help you.

Think over what else you would like to know about the company or the position and prepare your own questions. It allows you to be an active participant in the interview by developing relevant questions. On the other hand you shouldn’t underestimate the value of listening well. Hiring managers almost always tell you exactly what they're looking for in an employee, and you can tailor your behavior and answers accordingly. All you need is just to listen attentively.

There are also a lot of other "small" things you should consider. Don’t forget to think through your attire, hair style, gestures and so on.
