Pants and Skirts Tailored pants suits are appropriate for women especially it is excellent for site visits. Your pants should be creased and tailored, not tight or flowing.
Skirt Lengths The best variant is if your skirt covers your thighs when you are seated. The most professionally a skirt looks if it ends at the knees when you're standing. Longer skirts are professional too but they should narrow enough not to be billowing, and not so narrow that you can't climb stairs comfortably. Before deciding on a length, sit in the skirt facing a mirror, just so an interviewer will see you. Avoid high slits in skirts. Just a small back or center slit in a knee-length skirt is appropriate. If you have a calf length skirt, a slit to the knee to facilitate walking and stair climbing is appropriate.
Color Women generally have more options with suit color than men. You can choose navy, dark gray, brown or black suit. Slate blue or light gray suits are also appropriate. Just avoid the extremes.
Shirt and Sweaters Choose a good quality knit shell or a tailored blouse in a color or small print that coordinates nicely with your suit, underneath the suit jacket. Don't show cleavage.
Jewelry and Accessories Be conservative when choose jewelry and other accessories like a watch and so on. It is better to wear simple things. Avoid extremes of style and color. You may have more flexibility, if your industry is creative.
Makeup Heavy makeup isn’t encouraged. A little is usually better than none for a polished look. Pay specific attention to your hands. Nails should look clean and be trimmed to a length that doesn't leave an observer wondering how you keep from stabbing yourself.
Shoes Wear leather or fabric / micro fiber shoes. In any case avoid sneakers, stilettos, open-toed shoes, sandals and chunky platforms. First of all your shoes should be comfortable as hobbling does not convey a professional appearance.
Hosiery It is obligatory part of a woman’s attire. Choose plainly styled (no patterns or fishnets), sheer (not opaque), and in neutral colors hosiery complementing your suit.
Purse and Bag Purse color should match your shoes. Carry a small and simple purse, especially if you also carry a briefcase. As usual leather is the best material for briefcases; micro fiber or fine wovens are also acceptable. Don’t use bags made of canvas or straw.
