Choosing the Attire
Choosing the Attire

You should think over what you're going to wear several days before the interview. Then you'll get time to shop or get garments pressed and cleaned. Remember that your attire should be crisp, clean and professional.

In the interview the following things will be inappropriate:
1. A backpack, fannypack or a purse. Instead of them you should carry a briefcase or portfolio.
2. Any "transit gear", such as sunglasses on top of your head or headphones around your neck. Remove all accessories and put it in your briefcase before entering the reception area.
3. Skirts that don’t cover your thighs when you are seated.
4. Unsuitable tie.
5. Too bright or large-patterned clothing.
6. Excess in makeup on women or any makeup on a man.
7. More than one set of earrings on women or earrings on men.
8. Visible tattoos, facial piercing or tongue jewelry.
9. Ill-fitting clothes.
10. Too long fingernails with bright or specialty polishes. Your nails should look clean.
11. Hair of unnatural colors or styles.
12. Shirts with short sleeves. And even a tie will not save the situation.
13. Bare legs or fishnets, patterned hosiery.
14. Too short socks or socks that don’t match shoes.
15. Ragged or dirty clothing.
16. Shabby or improper footwear. Don’t wear in the interview sneakers, stilettos, open-toed shoes or sandals.
17. Strong perfumes including aftershaves and colognes. Your interviewer may be allergic to some scents.
18. Belts and shoes that don't match.
19. Any signs that you’re wearing a new suit. Remove all tags and extra buttons.

You need the interviewer to be listening to what you're saying, not critiquing what you're wearing.
