carefulCurrently working but interested in searching for something new or more perspective? Well, be sure that you stay at your present job until you find a new one right for you. Things you have to take care of while looking for a new position are:
• Be careful that your job search doesn’t become obvious or known to you current employer, since you may immediately lose you present job or at least spoil your relations at work.
• Don’t distract too much from your current responsibilities, stay focused on your job and perform your responsibilities well.

There are some common tips that may be helpful for a job-hunter who wishes to be successful and don’t fault.

1. Evaluate whether it is risky if you current employer gets to know that you are looking for a new place. If your work contract comes to its end, your behaviour may be understood and there is no problem in your boss knowing it. However, sometimes letting the boss know you want to change jobs may result in your immediate doing it (even if you didn’t plan to do it so quickly).

2. Take great care with the places where you send or where you post your resumes. It is not a rare case that employers find resumes of their own employees posted somewhere. Make sure you know who will receive your resume and what they are going to do with it afterwards.

3.  Be cautious while networking. The latter is a useful means of getting to know possible job opportunities, but involves letting a lot of people know about your intentions. That is why you need to be careful to whom you say that you want to have a better job. You may also use some general statements that don’t emphasize your immediate need to change the job right now, something like “I am always eager to learn about new career opportunities” and the like.

4. Research the market from home. Use only personal e-mail and phone numbers (sell phone or home phone) for contacting potential employers.

5. Let the potential employer know that you want your enquiry to remain confidential. Usually, they are careful about potential employees’ confidentiality; however, emphasizing it additionally will not hurt.

6. Don’t forget to stay focused on your current job. You don’t want to leave a place and spoil your reputation at the end. Although it may appear a little bit difficult to be serious about your current responsibilities when you have decided to quit them very soon, you must do you best till the very end.
