Contracting Company can choose to maintain only a skeleton of staff at their core and then contract with individuals to perform a full-time but time-specific role. Such employees get only salary without any benefits. A contract may be made for a few weeks up to a few years. Like multi-trackers, contractors are confident in their skills and can adapt to different settings quickly. They can work from home.
Consulting A consultant is similar to a contractor in some way. The difference is that a consultant may have contracts with a number of organizations at the same time, managing multiple projects. Consultants are used in any field where a specialized set of knowledge is required. Consultants are sure they have skills that will enhance the value of others and know how to apply these to a given situation. They are confident, self-reliant and creative problem solvers.
Self-Employment Term "self-employment" is typically referred a one-person operation. It means that individuals develop, market and deliver their products and/or services. Sometimes it is called the SOHO (single operator / home office). This is the most rapidly growing sector today. This individual should be confident, determined and excellent self-manager; believe in his/her product or service 100%. These ventures can be risky enough.
Entrepreneurship This option involves the highest level of financial risk but also the highest rewards. An individual owns and operates a business, employing others in the running of the business. The business can be based on scratch, purchase or a franchise. Common number of employees of these entrepreneurial ventures is fewer than 20. Entrepreneurs are usually independent, and anxious for success.
