Executive Summary
business-plan-sectionsExecutive summary is a high level overview of the business plan. This section comes in the beginning of the document right after the Tables of Contents (some may come even before it). The Executive Summary section usually includes concise information about the following:
- The business history
- The objectives of the business
- The products or services the business offers
- An overview of the market for those products or services
- The competitive advantage of the business that is likely to help it to succeed against its competitors
- Perspective growth
- The key members of the business
Although this section of a business plan comes in the beginning of a document, it is usually written last, as all the details are already known to the writer and well thought of. Executive summary should be a very accurate and specific section, well-written since it is the section that will either help a person attract outside funding and will persuade the reader in the business’s reliability or will make him lose his interest. A good idea can be to write a few sentences from each of your consecutive sections in your executive summary, however, the choice of sentences and their arrangement should be very careful. Make sure your executive summary is comprehensible. You can ask somebody to read it and give feedback of what could be specified better or changed.

Company Description
The information included in this section may include various details depending on the age and type of your business. Some of the things you might be interested in mentioning are:
- Short first paragraph outlining your business in general

- Startup summary for business that are in the process of being started. Here you should provide information about the expenses and the funds you have had from the start.
- Location and facilities of the business
Moreover, other relevant details can be included in this section.

Products or Services
Depending on the kind of products or services or both you plan to offer through your own business, this section should contain different information. First, it is necessary to include the exact description of what you are going to offer. Second, you should state the competitive value of your products/services, which mean in what ways your services are better or different from the ones offered by your competitors. Moreover, it is logical to state how you are going to market, advertise or promote your business/products/services. Finally, it is advised that the way of processing client’s orders is clearly described as well as any other additional needs for the products or services to be created or distributed are outlined.
For any product or service which has to be patented, all the corresponding information should also be mentioned.
