An actor, depending on his or her level of professional progress, has many different tasks and responsibilities. Generally an actor must be self-motivated and always improve his or her acting skills. Actors must try and constantly seek themselves in various acting roles and genres. Actors bring characters to life in theatre, film, television and radio. They use speech, movement and expression to play a role in most believable and natural way. Actors in musical theatre also must have singing and dancing skills.
Actors also spend a lot of time: • researching their role • learning lines • rehearsing • preparing for and attending auditions • contacting agents and finding the next role.
At the career's level most basic for actor should be able to memorize and recite text with emotions of his character playing becomes real and authentic. Practicing, repeating and learning new techniques to develop actor’s abilities are a daily doings.
Actors are trying to get a role that they can play. Very often the actor uses the help of a drama coach and repeats this process as often as required. Television or movies actors have the opportunity to repeat filming of mistakes, but still they trying to perfect the first time. Actors often have part or full time jobs in addition to their acting careers.
To be an actor you need to: • be talented and creative • work well in a team • have energy and physical fitness • be very-sided and flexible • be disciplined and hard-working • have a good memory for learning lines quickly • be reliable and punctual • be able to accept direction and criticism.
Annual Income There is no set income for actors. Most of them are paid a fee per contract or performance. From recent review was found that nearly half of people in the UK performance industry earned less than £6,000 from that profession in the prior year. Only 6% earned more than £30,000 from acting.
